Eun-Hee Ji used a late tee time to her advantage. She teed off at 1:12 PM HST on Hole 10 in nearly perfect weather. Sunny, with light winds. Ji made the most of that “perfect storm” and fired a -7 (65) with her only bogey through 36 holes being made her final hole of the day, Hole 9. After 2 Rounds Ji is at -15 and holds a 2 shot lead over Round 1 leader Nelly Korda who shot a 68 in the morning to finish at -4 on the day and -13 through 2 Rounds.
It was a tough day for Hawaii’s Michelle Wie who was battling a wrist injury. Following her round, Wie said “there were points where I felt like giving up” but the Punahou Alum battled through and finished her round. Firing a +5, 77 in her Second Round for a total of +10 through 2 days. However, Wie failed to make the cut and will finish the 2019 LOTTE Championship in a tie for 141st Place.
Conditions were tough as Wie (2014) isn’t the only previous LOTTE Championship Winner to miss the cut. 2017 Champion Cristie Kerr had a combined total of +3, finishing in 107th Place, respectively.
