It was the last day of the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic, the Rainbow Warriors had a
back-and-forward battle with Rhode Island, but was able to just out beat them 68-60. The
Rainbow Warriors finished 2-1 in the tournament, finishing in 5th place.
It was a game worth watching, with 17 lead changes, Hawaii had to dig deep. In the first half,
Rhode Island did slightly better than Hawaii in steals and blocks. However, Hawaii’s senior
forward Jack Purchase was able to hit the three-pointer buzzer shot giving Hawaii a 34-32 lead.
Second half, the battle continues. Both teams firing shots, taking turns on the leader board. But
in the end the Bows were able to pull out a win hitting 13-to-18 free-throws to the Rams 6-to-12.
Zigmars Raimo hit a career-high with 19-points tonight. Drew Buggs putting up 12-points,
Brocke Stepteau and Eddie Stansberry adding 12-points.
TCU was able to capture the tournament title with a win over Indiana State 83-69.
The Rainbow Warriors will be back at the Stan Sheriff Center on Saturday, Dec. 29 against
Alabama A&M. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m.
