On a sunny Thursday Morning, Maryknoll’s Peter Jung stepped on to Waialae Country Club’s 10th tee to make his PGA TOUR Debut as an amateur. At 16 years old the Spartan Junior is the youngest player in the Sony Open field. Unfortunately, it was a rocky start for Jung as he shot a +14 (84) in today’s First Round. With the weekend cut at Waialae typically averaging to be around -1 or -2 after Round 2 Jung will need to play perfectly on Friday to make it to the weekend. Hawaii’s Brent Grant and Jared Sawada also competed, beginning their rounds in the afternoon.
Round 2 begins tomorrow at 7 AM With Ollie Schniederjans, Ryan Blaum, and Dominic Bozzelli on Hole 1, while Brian Gay, Y.E. Yang, and Tyler Duncan open up the action on Hole 10 at 7 AM.
Hawaii’s Brent Grant will tee it up at 8:40 AM and Jared Sawada will be one group behind him starting his round at 8:50 AM. Both begin their rounds on Hole 10. Maryknoll Junior Peter Jung looks to rebound after a tough First Round as he tees off at 1:30 PM from the 1st tee.
