The Tigers pounced on the Rainbow Warriors’ rugged shooting performance and rode Devin Cannady’s 28 points to secure fifth place in the tourney.
Cannady also led Princeton (7-7) with eight rebounds and three assists, while converting 12-of-16 attempts from the free throw line.
Mike Thomas helped Hawai‘i (8-4) get off to a hot start with 19 first-half points, but added just three more in the second half as the ‘Bows faded. The Rainbow Warriors were abysmal from the charity stripe, missing 11 of 20 attempts, while the green-clad team made just two of 11 attempts from behind the 3-point arc. UH lost by double digits despite dominating the points-in-the-paint battle 44-28.
